There was a long pause after that. Tally imagined the doctors arguing over what to type into their voice software. "why are you guys torturing me?" She shouted, trying to sound like a harmless, whining pretty. "Let me see your faces!"
She curled up on the bed and made sobbing noises, but she readied herself to leap in any directiong. These dimwits probable didn't realize that her arms had completely fixed themselves while she was asleep." (254)
Wow see she is really smart and clever without even cutting herself, which shows maybe that they do not need to cut themselves in order to think clearly. Poor Tally though I can not believe they captured her, but she has gotten so deep into all this mess that sometimes I am even confused to what she is doing. Though I can not believe how much the scientist rely on their technology to the point were they even have the feel to use it to disguise their voice... Or maybe is it because Tally's biological advances as a special that she is afraid that she will be able to recognize their voices if she ever heard it again. Though is she ever found them again that is shame on their part because if they have all this power and technology you would think they would be able to protect themselves from everyone, but I guess who are you going to rely on the pretties? No because they are made to be complete idiots to just enjoy life and have fun, they really have no other purposes. Its crazy how they make almost different species of humans, that is how much they use biotechnology that they have almost created many different species of humans... That is to much for me, and its crazy because we are getting to the point in our future were biotechnology can change a persons genetic code and make clones.. But i hope they do not dive in the shallow end and our future ends up like this.. I almost feel like we should quite while we are ahead because we are tampering with things that maybe should not be tampered with!

Blog entry 5 The Specials
"Shay rose into the sky, her silhouette barely visible against the dark trees on the other bank.... disappearing instantly, like something winking out of existence. But Tally could still hear her breathing through the skintenna link. It sounded harsh and angry as it began to fade, as if shay's teeth were still bared in hatred and disgust. Tally tired to think of one more thing to say, something that would explain why she had to do this. Staying with Zane was more important than being a cutter."(171)
Shay does not realize that their is more to life than just being a special. She is almost like a living robot because of the biotechnology used on her to advance her and remove most of her emotions. How could she ever expect Tally to leave Zane after what they have go through together and what Tally had to endure to even get to where she is now? I know Zane is not completely himself because of the pills he tried to take in order to help with the lesions on his brain but doesn't shay realize how guilty Tally feels, and how she has to be human once and make a decision off of her emotions rather than just clear logic? Making decisions of off clear logic and the powers you posses because of biotech is no way a human should live their life, which also shows dystopian characteristic in the specials, though you think there would be none. I guess in a future where biotechnology is so advanced, available, and ready for anyone to use it you cant expect for someone to not abuse it or depend on it in some way shape or form. Though that is why its dystopian they believe they need this in order to be happy or to function, to create perfect outcomes. When in reality being imperfect is all about being human and that is why tally in the main character in the book because she understands that being human is more important than being perfect or this societies idea of being perfect, and in order to make this society normal again I feel as everyone needs to realize this.

"Tally glanced down to check herself for growing silver dots. She wondered if the sprayers inside were getting the hungry nanos under control, or whether the whole building was going to sink into the earth. If the silver goo was the sort of stuff the Armory kept in its museum, what were the "serious" weapons stored deep underground like? Of course, destroying once building wasn't much by Rust standards. They'd killed whole cities with a single bomb, sickened generations with radioactivity and poisons."(129)
They even have biotechnological weapons... That's intense. I think its a little to much though, why do they need to invent such weapons to do so much harm? And when did the rusties get so biotech advanced? Before they almost had no technology and now they have all this? That's crazy. "Later, the others were going to head out on their hover-boards and scan the wild. The smokies couldn't remove Faustos's skintenna without killing him, so his signal would read from a kilometer or so away. But mere kilometers meant nothing in the wild, Tally knew. On her way to the Smoke, she'd traveled at hoverbaord speeds for days without encountering any sign of humanitym had seen whole cities submerged in desert sands and jungle. If the Smokies wanted to disappear the natural world was more than big enough." (64)
Wow, so the almost have a radio attatched to them biologically. How can you put a tracker/radio in someone to the point that if they remove it they can die? That is why this is a dystopian society because they think that all this biotechnology is great when in fact that its really harmful and playing to much as the hand of God. I think that the specials also abuse biotechnology creating an even further dystopian society. This future society is to much, they rely soley on biotechnology to solve all thier problems. If someone stands up to the government they just capture then and do a surgical process where they make lesions in thier brain in order to change the way they think. To create this "bubbly" person who has no way of thinking but materialistically and having fun. Nothign else is really important to them. The government does this so they can have complete control of the citizens and be able to project this image that thier society is perfect when in reality its not. Though the specials are not even able to reverse this perfectly. There is medicine to help but it can also turn you crazy or just ruin your brain. That is what happened to Tallys boyfriend, I wonder if she still thinks about him and how she feels guilty about it... Though even the speicals are unable to control this it takes forever for them to remove the "bubbly" feeling. Though now they are fighting with the rusties when I feel like they should be trying to take down the government and scientest that controll the pretties.

"Making a claw with her right hand, Tally dug her fingernails into the flesh of her left arm. the delicate nerves woven into her skin screamed, a torrent of pain piling through her, overloading her brain. But the special moment struck, icy clarity replacing panic and confused. She drew in the cold air in gasps..... Of course. David and the girl had ditched their own hover-boards. they had to have left them close by."(42)
Oh my goodness! Thats horrible, well I guess its not but still I would not want to cut myself in order to just be able to think clear? Well I understand why they would do that because when you get a cut your body releases natural endorphins which can help clear your mind in some way because your not thinking about emotion and then the pain is calmed. Though I think they are abusing thier bodies, which is an issue of a dystopian society with biotechnology influence. You can not treat your body like its something you have complete control of, they are just abusing the natural laws of biology. It kind of freaks me out to think about the way they live thier lives. Its not healthy to have all those scars on you, its not the way to live your life even though for some odd reason they think this is okay. I think this is the dystopian part of it because even the people trying to escape the true horrible parts of society they are still living in it because they think this is okay and a good way to live your life but its not. In order to think clear you have to cut yourself, is no way to live your life. Do they not have any other way? I guess they need this in order to have thier advanced powers.. Though I do not get with all their technology how they can not make it so they think clear all the time and on demand. Well maybe its because we are all human and of course we have emotions so sometimes we can not think crystal clear, but why do they want to live thier life almost as robots? I guess to them its better than living as a pretty but it is still not a good way to live your life.

"He'd been special long than she had. The cutters were a brand-new part of Special Circumstances, but Tally's operation had taken the longest. She'd done a lot of very average things in her past, and it had taken a while for the doctors to strip away all the built-up guilt and shame. So now she is a special? Wow that is intense, they are really technologicaly advanced in the biology field. But this just causes so many biotechnology issues in this version of the future. The government uses so much biotechnology to control its citizens. Why do they scientest think this is okay? I beleive they think its okay because they just see the pretties being happy. Though event his surgery sounds way to intense. Stripping someone of thier past emotions? I guess I understand because it helps them make descions off of logic rather than impulsions or emotions. "Icy clarity" That sounds so hard and cold hearted. Though I wonder if she will forget what happened to Zane or will she just feel no emotion to it... I would never want to be strip all my emotions away, sometimes I say I would but in reality that is no way to live. Blog Entry #6
"Or was she finally getting the same reaction for the cure as Zane? Was the pill beginning to damage her brain, now that she was beyond any hope of medical cure? Tally's head pounded, fevered thoughts swirling through her. She had no hover-board, now way of getting to the Rust Ruins except on foot. No one knew where she was. The world had been emptied of everything but the wild. Even the absence on the cuff on the writs felt strange, like the gap left behind by a missing tooth" (243)
I can't believe how they can use technology to alter herself and her thinking so much, in the book before she was completely different and now she does not know what to think or what is right. Its unfair how the specials did this to her. How can you just change someone without their consent and then just force them to live a lie. How can you use technology that could be creating miracles instead creating the most superficial world it can create. But why is she so afraid of the cure? It should of worked and you can see how much technology they depend on to solve all their problems. I could never imagine our world turning into theirs because of technology, well I could but I would not want to believe it. Though its true even today we depend to much on technology even on superficial things like plastic surgery. We should love our flaws because that's what makes us special. Why should anyone inspire to be something they are not just because is socially acceptable. Thats how you can see how technology turned this society into a dystopian mess because it made people think that it is fine to just be superficial and that being pretty is what life is about and that is why everyone must undergo the surgery but its not. No one even knows how to function without technology even for a little bit. Which just shows how imperfect the world is.
